A Day in the Life at 58 Nørth Coffee Roastery: Behind the Beans Sourcing Green Coffee Beans

Welcome to the first post in our "Behind the Beans" blog series, where we take you inside daily life at 58 Nørth Coffee Roasters. In this series, we’re sharing what really goes on behind the scenes — from roasting and tasting to packaging and serving your favorite cup.

In today’s post, we’re diving into one of the most important parts of what we do: sourcing green coffee beans.

Why Green Coffee Sourcing Matters

Before any coffee ever reaches your cup, it starts its journey as a green coffee bean — unroasted, raw, and full of potential.

At 58 Nørth, sourcing green coffee is more than just picking the best beans. Our process is focused on sustainability and relationship based.  Traceability is important so is transparancy for us it's about building direct relationships with producers, ensuring traceability and transparency, and supporting sustainable and ethical practices at origin.

Sourcing high-quality green coffee allows us to bring out the best flavors during roasting, whether it's a bright and fruity Ethiopian natural or a smooth, chocolatey Colombian washed coffee. The quality of the final cup always starts with the bean — and that means it starts with how, where, and from whom we source it.

The Process Behind Our Coffee Sourcing

At 58 Nørth Coffee Roastery, our sourcing process combines curiosity, quality control, and responsibility and environment.

We work with trusted importers and sometimes directly with farmers and cooperatives. Every green coffee we select is **sampled, cupped, and evaluated** before we bring it into our roastery.

We look for beans that not only taste great but come from farms that follow fair and sustainable practices. Our goal is to create lasting relationships and ensure that everyone involved in the supply chain — from farmer to roaster to customer — benefits.

Whether you’re a coffee professional, home brewer, or just someone who loves a great cup of coffee, we’re excited to share what goes into every bag of 58 Nørth coffee.
